NOTD: OPI Eiffel For This Color, Weird Layering Experiment & The Contest Winner

I've been wearing OPI Eiffel For This Color since yesterday. I have also made some layering over it and the result was very unexpected. I meant to do a post about it last night, but I was simply too lazy *lol*


I got these two polishes shown here in a recent swap with Erin.


OPI Eiffel For This Color is a beautiful dark and vampy cherry red shade with subtle shimmer, that just glows under the sunlight. I really love this colour and I just *need* it in a full size bottle.

Here it is, 2 coats (you can clik on the pic to see the shimmer):

Later on I was thinking, how about some layering... I picked out OPI Pearl Of Wisdom and I wasn't sure what result to expect - a bit more shimmery red, maybe. Well, I was surprised. This is how it turned out:

Like a purple/green duo-chrome. What do you think?

NOTD: Barry M Instant Nail Effects

Over my yesterday's manicure - Orly's Winter Wonderland I applied a layer of Barry M Instant Nail Effects polish, which is actually a crackle polish.

Here is the result:

I still have to learn how to apply it more evenly. On my ring finger I had to much polish on my nail, so that's why a big black chunk of polish is left there *lol*


This is really fun to play with it! :D Can't wait for the China Glaze crackle polishes and all the various colours available in that collection.

NOTD: Orly Winter Wonderland

I have recently purchased this one together with Meet Me Under The Misteltoe in a mini set. It came out as a part of 'Tis The Season Holiday 2010 Collection.

Winter Wonderland is a sheer white/silver shade. It looks like a glitter polish in a bottle, but on the nails it looks more like a foil. Altough it's sheer, I like this one much more than expected I would. Don't know why... I just like it :)


I used 2 coats here. The photo was taken outside, sun:

More Swap Goodies & NOTD: Claire's Twinkle Twinkle

I have more swap goodies to show you! :D

Lovely Erin at Persistently Polished blog and I did a swap recently. She is an awesome swap partner for sure! :) I was really surprised, because she sent me so many beautiful polishes that were on my wish list. Thank you, Erin!

I deliberately took a bit shady pictures that don't show you which polishes I got exactly, just to raise your curiosity *lol* You'll have to wait and see... ;)

It was hard to pick a polish to start with :D But somehow I've managed to decide and I've put on Claire's Twinkle Twinkle - glittery blue shade. I added three coats and here is the result (sadly, there was no sun, so it doesn't sparkle in all it's glory):

I do recommend a top coat with this one, because it dries matte and a bit gritty.

NOTD: How Much Bling Can You Take?

I was in the mood to do some bling-tastic manicure this morning and this is what I came up with...

First I applied two coats of China Glaze Midnight Kiss that I got in a recent swap with Jessica at Polished Lyrics. It's a golden foil shade, that could be easily opaque in one coat (if you're a bit more careful with application than I was) and dries very fast.

Then I added a thin layer of OPI Glow Up Already! from their Burlesque Collection that I won recently (along with some other goodies) in a giveaway at Varnish Vixen.

Here is the result:

I just couldn't take a decent photo of this layering experiment (photos are clickable), but I really like the way it turned out. Very season appropriate, I'd say :D

Essie Winter 2010: Luxedo

Tokrat je na vrsti še zadnji odtenek iz Essie zimske kolekcije, to je Luxedo. Luxedo je čudovit temno vijoličen (skoraj črn), vampy odtenek. Nanaša se odlično, popolnoma je prekriven v dveh slojih in tudi tega odlikuje visok sijaj (kot ostale iz te kolekcije).

And the last one from Essie's Winter Collection 2010 that I'm going to show you is Luxedo. Luxedo is a gorgeous dark purple (almost black) vampy shade. It applies smoothly, it's opaque in two coats and it has very glossy finish too (like the other shades from this collection).

Essie Winter 2010: Smokin' Hot

Ostala sta mi še dva odtenka iz Essie zimske kolekcije, da vam ju predstavim in danes bo to odtenek Smokin' Hot. Gre pa za prav zanimiv in poseben siv odtenek s pridihom vijolične. Kot vsi ostali iz te kolekcije ima tudi ta krem finiš. Lak je prekriven v dveh slojih in neproblematičen za nanos.

I have two more nail polishes from Essie's Winter Collection left to show them to you and today you'll see the shade called Smokin' Hot. It's quite interesting and special shade with a hint of purple. Like all the others from this collection this one has creme finish too. It's opaque after two coats and application is good.

Essie Winter 2010: Hot Coco

Danes je na vrsti, da vam ga predstavim, odtenek Hot Coco iz aktualne Essie zimske kolekcije. Gre za t.i. taupe odtenek s krem finišem. Tovrstni odtenki so pravi hit zadnje čase in jih lahko najdete v skoraj vsaki kolekciji.

Sam lak po prvem sloju deluje nekoliko voden, ampak z debelejšim drugim slojem sem dosegla popolno prekrivnost. Kot ostali odtenki iz te kolekcije, je tudi ta zelo sijoč.


Today I'm going to show you the next shade from Essie's Winter Collection - it's called Hot Coco. It's a taupe shade with creme finish. Shades like this are very popular for quite some time now and you can find them in almost every nail polish collection.

The polish seems a bit runny after first coat, but with thicker second coat I managed to get the complete coverage. This one is very glossy too, just like the other shades from this collection.

Essie Winter 2010: Going Incognito

Tokrat vam iz Essie zimske kolekcije predstavljam odtenek Going Incognito. Če ste ljubiteljice zelenih odtenkov, potem mislim, da vam bo ta všeč. Gre namreč za čudovit, temno zelen odtenek. Vsekakor je to eden izmed favoritov iz te kolekcije po mojem mnenju.

Lak se nanaša brez težav, je dobro pigmentiran in polno prekriven po dveh slojih.

Today I have for you Going Incognito from the latest Essie's Winter Collection. If you like green polishes, I think you'll love this one. It's a beautiful deep emerald green shade. It's definitely one of my favourites in this collection.

This polish applies well, it's very pigmented and gives a full coverage after two coats.

Essie Winter 2010: Masquerade Belle

Drugi odtenek iz Essie zimske kolekcije 2010, ki vam ga bom predstavila, je Masquerade Belle. Gre za skrivnosten in zapeljiv črno rubinast odtenek (kot pravi opis na Essie uradni strani).

The second polish from Essie's Winter 2010 Collection that I'm going to show you today, is Masquerade Belle. The oficial description says it's a: "Fascinating, mysterious and seductive black ruby..."


Gre za klasičen temno rdeč, vampy odtenek. Ta se je nanašal rahlo neenakomerno, zato sem uporabila 3 tanjše sloje, da sem dosegla enakomeren nanos. Je pa tudi ta, prav tako kot Silken Cord, neverjetno sijoč tudi brez nadlaka.

It's a classic dark red, vampy shade. This one has applied slightly uneven, so I had to use 3 thin coats to even out application. And it has, just like the Silken Cord, very glossy finish even without topcoat.

Essie Winter 2010: Silken Cord

V naslednjih nekaj objavah vam bom pokazala swatche lakov iz Essie kolekcije "Zima 2010".

In the next few posts I'll show you the swatches of Essie's polishes from Winter 2010 Collection.


Najprej vam predstavljam odtenek Silken Cord. Čudovit in drzen koralno rdeč odtenek (obožujem rdeče lake :D) s krem finišem, ki je hkrati tudi malo "jelly" in ima izjemno dobro formulo (po mojem mnenju najboljšo v celi kolekciji) - lak se maže kot pesmica, enakomerno in brez težav. Nanesla sem dva sloja laka; sicer so bile konice nohtov v resnici še vedno malo vidne, ampak to je zaradi "krem-jelly" formule. Poleg tega se ta lak posuši v neverjetno sijoč odtenek.

The first one I'm going to show you is Silken Cord. It is a beautiful and bold coral red shade (I love red polishes :D) with creme finish that is also half jelly and has a very good formula (one of the best in this collection). This baby goes on smooth, even and without any troubles. I added two coats; the nail line was still a bit visible in real life, but that's because of the slightly jelly texture of this polish. It also has a very glossy finish.

Sneak Peek: Essie Winter 2010

Čarodejka je na seznamu mojih najljubših slovenskih spletnih trgovin. Svoje prve Essie lake sem kupila v tej trgovinici leta 2008, mislim da je bila to jesenska kolekcija 2008. Zato sem bila toliko bolj vesela, ko me je pred kratkim Katja, lastnica Čarodejke, kontaktirala in vprašala, če bi bila pripravljena narediti swatche in oceniti kolekcijo "Zima 2010".

Carodejka is on the list of my favourite Slovenian web shops. I bought my first Essie polishes in this shop back in 2008 - I think it was collection for Fall 2008. That's why I was very excited when Katja, the owner of Carodejka, contacted me and ask me, if I would be prepared to do swatches and review of Essie's Winter Collection 2010.
